Our History

Thirty-eight years ago at the age of 17, Mexico immigrant, Ignacio Ramirez walked from Del Rio, Texas to Mason, Texas. It took him 19 days. This trek was a result of his childhood dream to come to the United States and one day own his own business.

Ignacio (Nacho) got a job as a cook in a local restaurant. After 28 years of cooking, he and his wife Lisa decided it was time for him to open his own restaurant. Their banker recommended that they visit the Angelo State University SBDC Advisor assigned to the Mason area, Peggy Rosser.

Nacho, Lisa, and Peggy visited on several occasions as the business idea was developing. Once the decision was made to pursue the restaurant and the funding was in place, Nacho and Lisa opened Nacho’s Café on September 12, 2011.

Located at 621 Ft. McKavitt, the opening of Nacho’s Café provided jobs for 16 employees and contributes to the economy of Mason.

In January of 2014, Nacho’s Café moved to a new location at 804 Ft. McKavitt and continues to be a Mason favorite to this day.
